Orientation and Entrepreneurial Foundation Session held at Karachi

The day marked the beginning of an entrepreneurial journey for the participants of Business Incubation Program for Women Home-Based Workers, where they were welcomed by Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director CED, and were introduced to the program by Ms. Soha Zulfiqar, Project Manager Women Entrepreneurship Program. The introductory note was then followed by the brief introduction of Aurat Foundation and its role in empowering women by Deputy Chief of Party Aurat Foundation, Ms. Mahapara Shakil and Ms. Mahnaz Rehman, Resident Director AF Karachi office. Mr. Jami Moiz, Acting Registrar IBA Karachi also welcomed the participants and urged them to make the most out of this experience in order to support their families and this country.

The first session was conducted by Dr. Shahid Qureshi who strived to build an entrepreneurial mindset amongst the participants and help them understand the basic business point of view. This was done by the help of case studies of "Chota Kaam" and "Roxanne Quimby". The fact that entrepreneurship does not involve gathering the means to start a business venture but to leverage on existing resources was strongly emphasized upon.

The objective of this session was to drive away the conventional mindset towards starting up a business and developing a basis towards an effectual model of entrepreneurship.
