Mar 8, 2019: IBA Aman Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) in collaboration with Interloop Limited and Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), launched IBA Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) in Faisalabad on 8th March 2019. The course will complete in 2 months and classes will be held on fortnightly weekends. The objective of this training is to facilitate the women in identifying their true entrepreneurial potential and to become nation builders for the future.

There were around 50 participants who attended the training program including the students from various educational and vocational institutes throughout Faisalabad.

The ceremony was graced by several guests including: Col (R.) Ijaz Ahmad Nasir (Head CSR Interloop), Mr. Zeeshan Akram (Manager CSR Interloop), Mrs. Farzana (Dean – Social Sciences GCWUF) etc.

The program initiated with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an introductory speech by Dr. Shahid Qureshi (the Program Director IBA CED). In his speech he explained the indigenized women entrepreneurship model and expressed great appreciation for the support of Interloop Ltd. and GCWUF for their collaboration in this nation building initiative.

Ms. Ambreen Khan continued the session and strived to build an entrepreneurial mindset amongst the participants and helped them to discover their innate entrepreneurial skills. The sticky notes exercise was conducted in which the participants were asked to reflect and to identify their inner self i.e. “Who am I?”. Furthermore, in order to understand each other, a cross introduction activity was conducted amongst the women participants.

The difference of Causation vs. Effectuation was highlighted with a strong emphasis on the fact that entrepreneurship does not involve gathering lot of means to start a business venture but to leverage on existing resources. To further reinforce this concept, various entrepreneurial case studies were discussed such as: “Roxanne Quimby – Babson case study”, “Jessica Cox – a girl born in U.S. without arms” etc. Dr. Shahid Qureshi (Program Director, IBA CED), told few motivational stories from the course pack to ignite an entrepreneurial spirit amongst the participants.

After lunch, the participants were engaged in a hands-on team building activity where they had to build a tallest tower while using the available resources at hand such as: newspapers, tape, scissors etc. The purpose of the exercise was to develop entrepreneurial values within the participants including: parsimony (working with the least amount of resources), time & resource management, improve problem solving ability in a team etc.
