AMAN-CED – Programs Graduating Ceremony
AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), IBA held a Graduating Ceremony for its various entrepreneurial programs at the G&T Auditorium, IBA Main Campus on Tuesday, 20th January, 2015.
IBA's AMAN CED with its vision to embark entrepreneurial spirit in the people of Pakistan, celebrated the completion of its various initiatives like Entrepreneurial Development Program (EDP Batch II), Women Entrepreneurship Program (Cohort 1) and Technology Entrepreneurship Program (Batch I). Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director IBA AMAN CED hosted the event and gave a formal introduction about AMAN CED and its many initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in the country.
The auditorium was packed with the gleaming faces of the participants and their proud family members, who were gathered to witness the auspicious occasion of graduation of more than 120 students, who had successfully completed different entrepreneurial programs of IBA's AMAN CED. Candidates of the Women Entrepreneurship Program, first cohort were the first to receive their certificates on the successful completion of their four month program. Then candidates of the Entrepreneurship Development Program - Batch II received their certificates and then last but not the least candidates of the Technology Entrepreneurship Program (Batch I) received their certificates.
A beautiful and motivating poem on the spirit of entrepreneurship, delivered by an EDP graduate set the momentum for the day. Numerous distinguished guests like Dr. Ghazala Siddiqui, the Founder and Principal of Generation School Karachi, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Butt, Chairman Bhitai Dental and Medical College Mirpurkhas, Ms. Naheed Memon, Vice President SBI, the Dean of Civil Engineering Department and Dean of Mechanical Engineering Department, NED University were present and distinguished IBA Faculty members like Mr. Jami Moiz, Dr. Imran Khan, Dr. Shahid Mir and Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Director AMAN-CED graced the event and encouraged the candidates with their active participation.
Dr. Shahid Mir, Chairperson Management Department, IBA and Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Butt, awarded diplomas to a total of 51 students, mostly from parts of rural Sindh, for the successful completion of the Entrepreneurship Development Program. The EDP program takes pride in the fact that more than 70% graduates of this program have started their own businesses and are now self-reliant. EDP is a great initiative of IBA AMAN CED and Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) to empower the youth of Sindh by providing them Entrepreneurial training.
The day also witnessed the graduation of the first-of-its kind initiative for high potential Women Entrepreneurs taken by IBA in collaboration with the World Bank and Enclude called Womenx. The Womenx is a milestone achieved by IBA AMAN CED, as it is the country's first program conducted and solely designed for Women Entrepreneurs. Through the Womenx initiative, the centre is providing four months business education trainings to high potential women entrepreneurs of Karachi. The participants of the program are also provided various opportunities of mentoring and networking. The first batch of these highly enterprising women business owners proudly received their certificates from Ms. Naheed Memon and Dr. Ghazala Siddiqui.
IBA AMAN CED also gave Certificate of Appreciation to IBA Faculty Members, who have contributed their valuable time and knowledge to shape up the CED programs. The unsung heroes who work at the back end with their support duties were also acknowledged at the event.
Lastly, Dr. Saroash Lodhi, Dean Civil and Urban Engineering Department at NED along with Dr. Tufail, Dean Mechanical Engineering at NED presented certificates to students who participated in the Technology Entrepreneurship course conducted by IBA AMAN-CED. Addressing the audience, Dr. Lodhi said, 'IBA and NED have been neighbours for the longest times but this is the first fruitful interaction of its kind between NED's students and IBA and the credit goes to Dr. Shahid Qureshi for breaking this wall of China and NED looks forward to learning more on the entrepreneurial front from IBA, the leading business school of Pakistan.'
The memorable event was enjoyed and appreciated by all the guests and faculty alike. The guests and participants present at the event appreciated IBA AMAN CED by giving the team a standing ovation for taking the right steps towards promoting entrepreneurship in the country.
