Mr. Shamyl Mooraj, owner of Black Betty & Mr. Syed Mehmood, owner of Karachi Foods share their inspiring stories with the Womenx participants
An interesting exercise on identifying your network based on the principles of Bird-in-hand was conducted in class and was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants.
Then, to formally welcome the students of the Womenx program the budding female entrepreneurs were addressed by none other than the dean and director of IBA himself, Dr. Ishrat Hussain. His speech proved very motivational for the students as he spoke of the role and scope of women entrepreneurs in Pakistan and how their contribution can prove to be substantial for our economy as well as our individual family lives as educating a woman is equivalent to educating a nation.
After the inspirational talk of Dr.Ishrat, Mr. Shamyl Mooraj owner and founder of a very popular range of cleaning supplies; BLACK BETTY came to talk to the class of his very different view on entrepreneurship. The exposure students got on hearing his story was very beneficial for them as they got to learn how practices in the real world differed from bookish theories that are taught in class. The last guest speaker of the day was Mr. Syed Mehmood, CEO of the very distinguished food chain by the name of Karachi Foods. He talked of his humble beginnings as an entrepreneur and how his business grew to become one of the most well-known restaurants in Karachi. The students were also offered an invitation by Mr. Mehmood to have complimentary lunch one day in his restaurant.
The unique stories that were shared by the very different guest speakers throughout this session, gave the students much food for thought and valuable insights on how the lives of entrepreneurs are constantly evolving with their businesses in order to achieve their entrepreneurial goals.
