Orientation Day and Entrepreneurship Session for Cohort 1
12th September marked the beginning of an exciting entrepreneurial journey as the first cohort of fifty enterprising women entrepreneurs joined IBA's AMAN-CED to go through the four-months of intensive business education training. The orientation ceremony of Womenx – women entrepreneurship program a collaboration between IBA, the World Bank and Enclude Solutions was opened by Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director, CED, who introduced the CED Faculty, CED team and the Enclude team to the participants. Welcoming the attendees, the Chief Guest of the ceremony, Registrar IBA, Capt. (Retd.) Ahmed Zaheer said it was an honor to welcome so many successful women business entrepreneurs, he said, 'Women mean business, they do business and they do it well!'
The program has attracted women entrepreneurs from very diverse backgrounds, consisting of an exclusive furniture designer, a renowned cake artist, a budding designer, a small stitching business (owner from a village) etc. In their own words, the attendees had opted for this program to learn from one of the top business institutions of Pakistan. The orientation ceremony ended on a happy note with a cake cutting ceremony by the Registrar and the faculty present. After a light tea-break the day followed numerous case study leaded by Dr. Shahid Qureshi.
An ice breaking activity was also conducted to familiarize participants with each other where each one of them was given a minute to tell their own story. Another interesting highlight of the day was an intensive interview activity conducted with the participants. The participants were divided into a group of two where each participant was required to ask each other set of interesting questions to understand each other's entrepreneurial journey and to know each other better. Each group was mentored by IBA's competent students and was also supervised by IBA's esteemed faculty members. A two hour long activity was enjoyed thoroughly by all the participants.
