Succeeding in a Man's World!

The IBA Center for Entrepreneurship Development (IBA-CED) strives to promote the spirit of "entrepreneurship" in Pakistan. Keeping aligned with this very endeavor, a full day workshop was held on February 23, 2013. The participants were aspiring female entrepreneurs from diverse walks of life and with versatile dreams. From hosting cooking classes, designing jewellery, to owning an in-house homeopathic clinic - the business ideas were rich and full of potential. Led by Ms. Maheen Ghauri, Ms. Lalarukh Ejaz, and Dr. Amber Gul Rashid, various key issues regarding female entrepreneurship and empowerment in the Pakistani context were discussed. Some of the participants were budding entrepreneurs seeking advice and consultancy. The conductors of the workshop provided guidance and stressed on the importance of research, marketing, and financial options that goes into running one's own business.

The audience learnt about essential topics such as ideation, how to start its own business, developing a business plan, obtaining financial assistance for the start-up, market research, marketing, improving management skills, team-work, networking, women empowerment, and how to overcome barriers women face in a business environment. The workshop was a huge success with many participants showing interest in starting their own venture in the near future.
