Mother Entrepreneurship Camp (MEC) Winter 2020

After conducting two successful camps, IBA Aman Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) organized the Mothers' Entrepreneurship Camp (MEC) Winter from 21st February to 23rd February 2020. The purpose of this camp was to expose participants to the entrepreneurial values and skills that can unleash their and their child's entrepreneurial potential. The program highlighted the importance of ethical, environmental, and social sensitivities for preparing the future generation of entrepreneurs as mothers' have a significant role to play in the nation building activity.

The camp started with great energy as we welcomed our teachers and mothers eager to learn and grow. The workshop started in the name of Almighty Allah followed by a session on Effectuation by Ms. Ambreen. To deliver a better understanding of the concept, the participants were engaged in an Effectual Snack Activity where they were instructed to prepare snacks from the limited ingredients provided to them. Excellent creative and teamworking skills were witnessed as the mothers came up with tempting refreshments within an hour.

The program comprised of Guest Speaker Sessions where Alumni from our previous MEC batches were invited to share their stories of establishing own businesses and discuss the role of MEC in realizing their potential. These relatable and practical stories helped participants gain perspective and inspired them to have complete faith in themselves while pursuing their ambition. Several other interactive sessions and activities were also incorporated into the camp, like yoga session led by Ms. Kanwal, to emphasize on the importance of health and fitness.

As we know that the role of the males cannot be undermined to promote entrepreneurial mindset within a family; therefore, on the third and last day, fathers (husbands of the participants) were also invited and given an orientation of the program. Dr. Shahid Qureshi, highlighted the importance of the role of both parents in inculcating entrepreneurial values and mindset among their children.

An activity was also organized where several small business owners set up their stalls in the IBA Aman CED Foyer to showcase their offerings. This proved to be an amazing opportunity for mothers to network as well as gain audience for their business.

After three days of sessions and activities, the camp came to an official end with a certificate distribution ceremony where all the mothers were recognized for their efforts and contribution. All mothers left the camp fueled with the enthusiasm to apply the teachings and skills learned in the camp into real world and begin the journey of chasing their dreams!
