IBA CED has arranged 10 Guest Speaker Sessions of national and international speakers in May, 2020

IBA Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) continues to engage its students and faculty members in online entrepreneurial education. In the month of May, 2020, 8 international and 2 national guest speakers interacted with the students of different programs of CED. 810 students attended these guest speakers. Following is the detail of the sessions:

Bina Ul Haq: Bina ul Haq is a London based International Expansion Business Consultant. She holds an MBA, and a Masters Level in Global Business from the University of Oxford, Said Business School. She has given lectures, presentations in organizations, international incubators and universities including at the Oxford and Cambridge Club. She is an author of business-related articles with a view to scenario planning and geopolitical aspects.

Dr. Umair Shah: Dr. Umair Shah received his Doctorate in Management of Technology from University of Waterloo in 2016. He also has a Master of Applied Science (2011) in Management Sciences from University of Waterloo. His research interests include: Strategic Management of Technological Innovation; Stakeholder Theory; Organizational Behaviour; and Online Experiential Learning.

Munawar Jamal: Munawar Jamal holds MBA from IBA Karachi and has more than 10 years of experience in building, designing and curating brands on both sides of the client-agency continuum. Currently, he is serving as a Manager Center for Executive Education at IBA Karachi.

Dr. Thomas Schott: Dr. Thomas Schott hold PhD in Sociology from Colombia University, New York. He teaches entrepreneurship related courses at University of Southern Denmark. His research and area of expertise include rural entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs’ networks and network organizations. He is also engaged as a visiting faculty at various countries. Professor Michael Hans:  Professor Hans works as Director Entrepreneurship and Industry Collaboration at Stamford International University, Bangkok. He is experienced entrepreneur, independent advisor and consultant Engineer.

Professor Gonzalo & Magdelena: Gonzalo is Professor of Corporate Strategy, Corporate Governance, Strategic Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Family Business at University Católica de Chile (UC) Engineering School. He has founded and directed two Centres of Corporate Governance & Enterprising Families at University del Desarrollo (UDD) and at Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI, top business schools of Latin America, and has taught in MBA programs for 26 years.



Michael Morris: Prof. Michael is a pioneer in curricular innovation and experiential learning. He has built three university entrepreneurship programs that have been ranked in the top 10 in the United States and earned global recognition for excellence. He has launched major poverty initiatives in Syracuse, New York, and Gainesville, Florida; designed a magnet program in entrepreneurship at an underserved high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma; created the National Disabled Veterans Entrepreneurship Program; and annually coordinates the Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa (EESA) Program. He has authored 13 books, 24 book chapters, and more than 130 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Robert Bodnar: Robert Bodnar currently serves as a senior executive with an entrepreneurial company specializing in the application of specialized chemistry to the Oil and Gas sector. Prior to this, he has held numerous senior positions in energy and technology companies including VP of Operations for a company providing IoT-centric field operations to oil production where he doubled revenue in one year, serving companies such as Exxon, Encana and EOG. He also served as the Executive Vice President of a New York Stock Exchange listed energy chemistry and technology company, and Chief Operations and Technology Officer of a JP Morgan backed software company providing cloud solutions to companies such as BP, Shell, Marathon and others. He was also the Chief Technology Officer of a Silicon Valley based company providing AI-based security and GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) solutions to financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch and Banco de Santander.

Entrepreneurial Mindset


Dr. Sarfraz Mian: Dr. Sarfraz A. Mian is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management Policy, Department Chair at School of Business, State University of New York (SUNY), Oswego. He earned his Master’s in Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences from Northwestern University and an MBA and PhD in Business Administration from the George Washington University. He was a visiting faculty at University of Maryland (US), Osnabruck University (Germany), LUMS (Pakistan).

Mian is the first scholar who highlighted the prominent role of modern universities in supporting knowledge/technology based entrepreneurship by promoting startup ecosystems with the help of business incubation mechanisms. Building on his early doctoral work on university business incubators, he continued to study entrepreneurial universities and business incubation programs in North America (US, Canada, Mexico), Western Europe, South America, and Asia over the last 30 years. Recently, he was ranked both by the Journal of Technology Transfer (2018) and the Journal of Business Research (2016) as the most productive scholar with highest impact (measured in citations of his work) on technology business incubation and acceleration research in the world.

Role of incubation centers


Dr. Zeeshan Khatri: Dr. Zeeshan Khatri is a Professor at Department of Textile Engineering, Mehran University Jamshoro. He has got 19 years academic and industrial experience. After spending 8 years in textile industry, he joined Mehran University as a Lecturer in the year 2009 and did his ME in Textile Engineering. He then pursued for doctorate degree and completed within 2.5 years from Shinshu University Japan in September 2013. He also owns professional titles CCol ASDC (UK) and CText ATI (UK) and PE (Pak). In 2004, SDC awarded him a President’s Diploma of Honor on his most meritorious performance in ASDC examinations.

Dr. Khatri is a Principal Investigator of Nanomaterial Research Group, comprising of eminent scientist around globe. He has more than 40 international publications with cumulative impact factor of 190.0 and 5 book chapters published by Springer. Dr. Khatri has been a national speaker at various conferences, seminars and workshops and participated more than 100 National and International conferences. Dr. Khatri is a Lead guest editor of annual issue in Journal of Nanomaterials (impact factor 1.7). He is inventor of various nanofibers membranes, on his credit are 2 Japanese patent, 1 US Patent and 6 patents have been filed. Dr. Khatri is a CEO of his startup company "nanoCLO (SMC Pvt.) Ltd.
