OuttaBox is my second venture and before starting it, I already had a lot of mental notes from my previous experience on what not to do. When I got selected for WomenX, the first thing I did was to leave my full-time job and made this business my first priority.
It has been a great experience. In the program I have had the opportunity to listen to a lot of stories from the guest speakers and other participants, their struggles and triumphs, highs and lows, everything was worth learning and has helped me in so many ways. As I am a technologist, I had a lot to learn in terms of Business Management and Marketing. Not only has my business taken off and gained momentum in this short time but I am taking steps in making progressive changes in my work.
Although my business has been very successful, I was unsure about what to do next and was feeling stuck and slightly demotivated. This was around the same time that I heard about the Womenx Pakistan program.
I was not sure what I would get out of the whole experience but I had 3 expectations: to meet new people, to get some food for thought about what direction to take for my business and to see how other people in business were managing similar issues.
The program has met all 3 of my expectations. I know what my 2015 plans are and where I'm headed with precision (pun intended). Plus I've made a few great friends who when I sit down with and talk about work they can 100% relate and even offer help/ ideas. The speakers, classes, overall experience really gave me a lot to think about and I learnt how they tackle things.
We got the chance to reflect on our own abilities and strengths, start to develop a sense of where to go next, and how to take the next step. Through networking, one can access a variety of resources that can increase your efficiency, knowledge, your business publicity, and your chances of succeeding!
Applying for the WomenX program was a one of the best decisions I had made in regards to building a network and for my business. From the friendly organizers and the topics covered in the program, to the relationships built and lessons learnt, everything was a very rounded experience one cannot intend to miss. There were times when I felt at ease once I learnt that I knew the right formula to start a business and sustain it. Some instances demanded more hard work and dedication which benefited me in the end. At the end of the four months, I can safely say that I got my basics polished and because of that my goals and strategies became easier to plan. A perfect environment to harvest new friendships and meet professionals from Pakistan and abroad.
