Inauguration of IBA Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) Cycle 2

IBA AMAN Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) in collaboration with Interloop Limited and Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), launched IBA Women Entrepreneurship Program Cycle 2 in Faisalabad on 4th October 2019. The objective of this training was to facilitate the women to identify their true entrepreneurial potential and to become nation builders for the future.

There were around 60 participants who attended the training program, including students from various educational and vocational institutes throughout Faisalabad.

The ceremony was graced by several guests including: Col (R.) Ijaz Ahmad Nasir (Head CSR Interloop), Dr. Robina Farooq (Vice Chancellor – GCWUF), Dr. Nosheen Syed (Incharge – Management Sciences, GCWUF) etc.

The program initiated with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an introductory speech by Dr. Shahid Qureshi (the Program Director - IBA CED). In his speech he explained the indigenized women entrepreneurship model and expressed great appreciation for the support of Interloop Ltd. and GCWUF for their collaboration in this nation building initiative.

Ms. Ambreen Khan (Instructor – IBA CED) continued the session and strived to build an entrepreneurial mindset amongst the participants and helped them to discover their innate entrepreneurial skills. This was done by conducting a sticky notes exercise where the participants were asked to reflect and to identify their inner self i.e. "Who am I?". Next, in order to understand each other, a cross introduction activity was conducted amongst the women participants.

In addition, an entrepreneurial mindset was developed by the help of the Effectual model of Entrepreneurship. The difference of Causation vs. Effectuation was highlighted with a strong emphasis on the fact that entrepreneurship does not involve gathering the means to start a business venture but to leverage on existing resources. In between, Dr. Shahid Qureshi taught few motivational stories from the course pack to ignite an entrepreneurial spirit amongst the participants.

After lunch, the participants were engaged in a hands-on team building activity where they had to build a tallest tower while using the available resources at hand such as: newspapers, tape, scissors etc. The purpose of the exercise was to develop entrepreneurial values within the participants including: parsimony (working with the least amount of resources), time & resource management, improve problem solving ability in a team etc.
